Format: how the two tests differ
CELPIP is delivered entirely on a computer in a single sitting of about three hours. You type your Writing answers, and for Speaking you record your responses into a microphone — there is no human examiner in the room. Scoring: CLB is what really counts
IRCC does not use your raw CELPIP level or IELTS band directly — it uses your Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB). CELPIP is reported on the same 1–12 scale as the CLB, so CELPIP 9 simply equals CLB 9. IELTS bands are converted to CLB using an official chart that differs by skill. Because both end up on the same scale, a CLB 9 from CELPIP and a CLB 9 from IELTS earn exactly the same Express Entry points.
