Which CELPIP test do you need?

Choose CELPIP-General (CA$299) if you are applying for permanent residence through Express Entry or a Provincial Nominee Program, or for a professional designation — it tests all four skills. Choose CELPIP-General LS (CA$199) only if you need proof of English for Canadian citizenship, since it covers Listening and Speaking alone.

Taxes and the real total

Paragon lists its fees before tax and adds applicable taxes at checkout, so the total depends on where you test. At the federal GST/HST rates published by the Canada Revenue Agency, a CA$299 CELPIP-General sitting comes to about CA$313.95 with 5% GST, CA$337.87 with Ontario’s 13% HST, CA$340.86 with Nova Scotia’s 14% HST (lowered from 15% on 1 April 2025) and CA$343.85 with 15% HST in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island. For the CA$199 LS test the same rates give about CA$208.95, CA$224.87, CA$226.86 and CA$228.85.

Reschedule, transfer and refund rules

You can transfer your sitting to a new date, time or location from your CELPIP Account. Your first transfer is free; each additional transfer costs CA$50 plus tax, and any transfer must be made at least 7 days before your test date. If you cancel instead, Paragon’s policy gives a 50% refund when you cancel at least 7 calendar days before the test, and no refund if you cancel less than 7 days before. If you need to retake, note that Paragon lets you register for no more than one sitting within 5 calendar days. One thing Paragon’s own pages do not agree on is the deadline. The page above gives 7 days for a transfer and for the 50% refund; the FAQ on each celpip.ca country page gives 9 calendar days for both, with the CA$50 transfer fee plus applicable taxes and no mention of a free first transfer. Which one applies to your registration is not stated, so the earlier you ask, the safer; the CELPIP Account shows what you are charged. Both read 11 October 2026.

Results timing and optional services

Per Paragon’s results page, scores are posted in your CELPIP Account 2–4 business days after your test, at no extra charge, and you download the PDF Official Score Report from there; paper score reports have been discontinued. The optional service with its own fee is a re-evaluation of one or more components, which you can request within six months of the test. If your Writing or Speaking level goes up, that component’s fee is refunded; Listening and Reading are computer-rated, so a re-evaluation rarely changes them. Results of a re-evaluation take about one to two weeks. The fee depends on the components and is shown in your CELPIP Account.
